Copywriters

John Chapman

John Chapman is a British national with over 25 years experience working with multinational organisations and European institutions in Brussels. Specialising in ICT, European defence policy and financial services, John is currently editing and writing for several publications in Belgium and the UK. He also has many years experience of project management, primarily in the area of introducing collaborative ICT systems across multinational organisations. Between 2002 and 2005, John chaired the Continental European Council of the NUJ (the UK’s National Union of Journalists).

Elisabeth Danson

Elisabeth (Libby) Danson has worked in the field of information, communication and image awareness for over 25 years. She has extensive experience in the establishment of international communications strategies and the subsequent planning, coordination, administration and evaluation of worldwide programmes on a country-by-country basis. Libby’s track record in building global brand reputations has been complemented by her three-year tenure with the European Commission as DG Information and Communication Asia Desk Officer. She has considerable field experience, having undertaken communication audits and executed PR campaigns in countries such as Romania, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam and Pakistan.

Nigel Griffiths

Nigel Griffiths has over 25 years of experience as a writer, principally in Brussels, reporting on EU policy developments, with particular emphasis on the environment, R&D, financial services, technology and entrepreneurship. He also has extensive expertise in developing and designing high-impact web-based communications. Previously Nigel worked as a senior partner for the Eurocommunications Group, a public relations/public affairs consultancy specialised in multinational communications programmes and as an editor and writer for the sister publications Europe Environment and Europe Energy.

Christian de Neef

Christian de Neef has more than 20 years of experience in Information Technology and Management. On his assignments, he has held a variety of positions related to Systems Architecture & Development, Project Management, Management Consulting, Knowledge Management, Transition Management, Work Organization, Research & Development, etc. At the turn of the century, he had responsibility for supporting the Content, Document, and Knowledge Management service offerings in Western Europe, concentrating on large European public administrations such as OAMI (the European agency for trade mark protection) as well as the private sector. He has also worked with a usability team for a large intranet site.

Since 2005, he has worked as an independent consultant, leading large and small international clients in their strategic change efforts, working at the crossroads of Innovation Management, Knowledge Management & Learning Organizations. Over the last 15 years, his assignments have led him to focus more on human and organizational issues – such as transition management, organizational change management and technology transfer, as they pertain to IT. He has developed his career along these lines, taking on management responsibilities of increasing scope and importance. Finally, he is regularly invited as a keynote speaker on a variety of subjects (Value Management, Knowledge and Content Management, The New Economy, Innovation) in international conferences.

Adrien Lebrun

Adrien Lebrun is an e-Communications specialist with extensive project management expertise in information technologies. Adrien’s expertise centres on e-Marketing, search engine optimisation, NGO and e-Advocacy strategies, particularly in the automotive, medicines and technology sectors as well as on behalf of political movements. With a background in European affairs, he started his career with a European federation where he was in charge of web and print publications for their lobbying activities. Adrien holds Masters degrees in political science and European politics.

Hannah Pearce

Hannah Pearce is a journalist and communications specialist who has reported all facets of the environmental and sustainability agendas in the UK, European and US media for nearly two decades. Since 1992, she has been a regular correspondent for Environment Watch Europe, for many years the only specialist newsletter for European business leaders, policy makers and lobbyists, offering detailed coverage and analysis of green issues from Brussels and each EU Member State capital. From her base in London, Hannah also works regularly for small and large organisations in the private and not-for-profit sectors, delivering public affairs consultancy, events, campaign reports or other information materials intended to inform debate and change opinion, policy or business practice.

Ilze Raath

llze Raath is a professional communications trainer with more than 10 years experience in developing and executing training programmes for the European Commission, European Parliament, Council of Europe and multinational organisations and companies. In addition, she has worked in corporate communication, strategic planning, publishing (books, newspapers, multimedia and advertising), investor relations and financial services. A South African citizen, Ilze is fluent in English, Dutch, Afrikaans and German, and has a working knowledge of French.

Dianna Rienstra

Dianna Rienstra is a communication specialist with more than 25 years experience in journalism, the public sector and government. She has a broad knowledge of European public affairs, particularly in the areas of IT, innovation, corporate social responsibility, financial services, transport and energy, employment and social affairs and development. Before moving to Brussels 10 years ago, Dianna spent eight years as a full-time journalist in print and electronic media, five years as communications director in the public sector and four years in government. She is a Canadian national and fluent in English and French.

Evaluation

Alexa Joyce

Alexa Joyce (European Schoolnet, Senior Communications & Business Development Manager) is a specialist in education technology. She has a dual role at European Schoolnet: coordinating proposal development, in particular in the area of science, and carrying out large-scale surveys of young people and teachers for the Insafe plus project. Previously she worked at UNESCO Bangkok, as project coordinator of the pilot SE Asian Schoolnet, focusing on international cooperation for learning science, maths and English. Alexa was also involved as a trainer and consultant in UNESCO’s Next Generation of Teachers and Teacher Training projects, supporting teachers in transforming their pedagogies to a more ICT-based, student-centred approach. She has also worked as project manager of Xplora, Earth and Space Week, Green Week and Zoom at EUN, and consulted for UNESCO Institute of International Educational Planning, OECD and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu. She has a Masters in Biological Sciences, specialised in Environmental Sciences, from the University of Oxford and an MBA from Solvay Business School, Brussels.

Alison Hunter

Before moving to Brussels, Alison worked in the UK consultancy market for seven years as a public policy analyst and evaluator, predominantly in the fields of skills, lifelong learning, public health and education. She has led on national evaluations and policy research assignments for national clients (including the Scottish Government and Welsh Assembly Government) applying qualitative and quantitative approaches to a wide range of assignments. These include ex-ante and ex-post methodologies. She has a particular interest in evaluating policy campaigns and possesses wide-ranging consultation techniques for engaging stakeholder groups - including business, senior policy advisers and the public.
