Gellis study defines strategy for euro related teaching
The European Commission's Directorate General for Economic and Financial affairs (DG ECFIN) has identified a need to enhance its communication strategy towards educational facilities. DG ECFIN asked Gellis (within the context of its framework contract for the provision of strategic communication advice) to design and implement an Educational study to determine the current teaching on the Euro and the EMU and the potential avenues for further integration of these issues.
Over the course of the study, Gellis will perform a market analysis including online consultations of teachers from all 27 member states as well as one-on-one interviews in the field to establish curriculum structure and teachers perspectives. In depth consultations will also be performed with discussion groups including educational actors and experts, formed within 6 member states (defined as France, Germany, Estonia, the UK, Italy and Poland). Gellis will then analyse the findings to establish relevant target groups so as to effectively structure the communications strategy.
The project outcomes are expected to provide DG ECFIN with concrete recommendations for where channels exist that are appropriate targets for ECFIN coordination, and the pedagogical tools that would be appropriate to develop and share. These tools and materials will be developed with the objective of enhancing students understanding of the euro and their perception of its value as an instrument of European integration. Finally Gellis will help DG ECFIN to determine an effective strategy for the next steps and for strategy implementation.
